Carla Vinciullo, Director
Carla is a highly regarded employment lawyer who supports clients in the management of their employee and industrial relations issues. Carla practices in all aspects of workplace relations law assisting clients with everything from pro-active compliance measures, day-to-day employment issues, dispute resolution through to high-level strategic advice. Carla regularly advises clients on a wide range of industrial relations issues, such as industrial relations strategy, enterprise agreement bargaining and industrial disputes.
She has significant experience in assisting clients with compliance including Fair Work Ombudsman audits, investigations and prosecutions as well as self-assessment, auditing and pro-active compliance strategies. Carla also regularly advises on and conducts investigations for clients on workplace complaints such as bullying and sexual harassment.
Carla has significant experience in all employment-related litigation, including before the Fair Work Commission, the Federal Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Australia and Western Australian courts, tribunals and commissions.
She has advised employer-clients from the public and private sector as well as local governments and not for profits.
Carla has a keen interest in supporting innovation and has many start up and small business clients who benefit from the experience and commerciality Carla offers.
Tim Kennedy, Director
Tim is a commercial dispute resolution lawyer who is highly experienced in all aspects of civil litigation. He also advises on property disputes, including leasing matters and commercial and contractual disputes. With an in-depth understanding of local government law, Tim regularly acts for regional shires and local governments in commercial and litigious matters.
Tim works with both large and small businesses across a range of commercial matters. He has expertise in shareholder disputes and directors duties and advises both established and emerging businesses on their day-to-day commercial needs and strategic collaborations and transactions.
Focused on providing practical and solutions driven advice, Tim has a wealth of experience assisting clients across a range of sectors on matters including governance and structuring, supply chain management, expansion strategies, partnerships and joint ventures. Tim is highly regarded for his legal knowledge, strategic advice and negotiating skills.
Tim has a strong understanding of wills and estate planning law, as well as deceased estate litigation. He regularly acts for clients at all levels with respect to these matters.
Tim’s clients include local governments, building companies, property developments, retail and business owners and client across the events, food and beverage industries.
Tim is currently a Director of Lacrosse Australia having formerly been the President of the Western Australian Events INdustry Association. Tim is a internationally accredited lacrosse official and was named the 2023 SportWest Official of the Year having been a finalist in 2022.
Gemma Wheeler-Carver, Senior Associate
Gemma Wheeler-Carver is a Senior Associate at Kennedy Vinciullo, working primarily across the employment law and litigation teams.
Gemma assists businesses with identifying and addressing issues before they become problems and providing strategic guidance where disputes arise. She has worked with a range of small to medium-sized businesses across various industries, as well as individual employees, so she understands all sides of workplace matters.
Gemma has guided business and individual clients with commercial disputes in a range of industries including mining and construction as well as general debt recovery.
When not advocating for her clients, Gemma enjoys yoga, hiking and paddleboarding.
Zoë Thornton, Senior Associate
Zoë Thornton is a senior associate at Kennedy Vinciullo, in the Disputes & Commercial Litigation team.
For Zoë the most interesting thing about law is that every case is different and she enjoys being able to learn a lot about different industries within Perth and nationally.
When she isn’t at work, Zoë is really into gardening! At the moment she is building a native garden that she’s grown from scratch.
Martina Selvey, Law Graduate
Martina Selvey is a law graduate at KV.
Martina was attracted to law because she enjoys the intellectual challenge but mostly she loves the opportunity to be a part of the solution. Martina enjoys solving client’s problems by providing a legal solution and simplifying that process.
When Martina isn’t at work, she enjoys socialising with friends, family and spending time with her three cats (Genie, Mr Darcy and Bertram.)
Lucy Willis, Paralegal
Lucy Willis is a paralegal at KV. She is studying Law at Murdoch University and is in her first year.
One of Lucy’s favourite things about law is meeting all the new clients, hearing their problems and being able to put together a solution for them.
Outside the office, Lucy is an avid lacrosse player and, when it comes to travel, Morocco is her top dream holiday destination.
Javier Williams, Paralegal
Javier is a paralegal at KV and is in his final year of Law study at UWA.
Javier enjoys the problem-solving side of law. Whether that’s meeting new clients to hear out their problems or doing the research to find a solution- he loves it all!
